It had been a long day. We awoke before the sun in El Paso. The morning before, I awoke in Asheville, NC. We woke up five children, piled them into the car and off we went. With five kids, a cross-country trip (as we all know, driving across Texas is cross-country, by either considering Texas as a country or simply the massive size) is never quick. Add in a wife who gets sick in the middle of the desert and we find ourselves still 90 minutes away from home, nearly 9 p.m. in need of food.
Fredericksburg was before us. Known as a winery town, there is a brewery/pub/guest house on Main Street. Their doors will lock in 10 minutes, but we need sausage and beer.
